Feast of St. Joseph

Feast of St. Joseph is celebrated traditionally on March 19th.
The Bible pays Joseph the highest compliment: he was a “just” man. By saying Joseph was “just,” the Bible means that he was one who was completely open to all that God wanted to do for Him. He became holy by opening himself totally to God.

We pray for all families on this feast day.
Since Joseph does not appear in Jesus’ public life, at his death, or resurrection, many historians believe Joseph probably had died before Jesus entered public ministry. Joseph is the patron of the dying because, assuming he died before Jesus’ public life, he died with Jesus and Mary close to him, the way we all would like to leave this earth.

Novena Prayer to St. Joseph
Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls – Pray for me.
